Toronto was formerly the Film Capital of Canada, however the capital shifted to Vancouver, B.C. to be closer to Los Angeles, California and the rest of Hollywood. However the majority of Fashion Design courses offered at Colleges and Universities are for the most part in Ontario, just as Toronto remains the fervent host of L'Oreal Paris Fashion week every season.

Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild
The Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild is an organization made up of people who share an interest in recreational costuming. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, they offer a variety of activities including workshops, costume salons and costumed events. City of Richmond Archives
Out of the City Archives photograph collection of 20,000+ images, more than 7,000 have been scanned and published online. Among the many topics are: farming and fishing, Richmond’s bridges, schools, aerial photographs, and citizens from 1880 to the present.
Design Exchange - Promoting Canadian Design
The Design Exchange (DX) is Canada's design centre and museum with a mission to promote the value of design. They are an internationally recognized non-profit educational organization committed to promoting greater awareness of design as well as the indispensable role it plays in fostering economic growth and cultural vitality. They build bridges by improving communication between various design disciplines, educators, businesses and the general public through programs, exhibits, lectures, and workshops.
Deep Cove Heritage Society
The Deep Cove Heritage Society is there for the public, be it general interest or research purposes. It was established in 1985 by a dedicated group of volunteers many of whom are still with them today. Their archives house a collection of over 2,500 photographs, some dating back to the turn of the century, as well as manuscript materials, maps, documents, and oral and written interviews with the area's pioneers.
Hallmark Society
The Hallmark Society was formed in 1973 in response to the rampant destruction of heritage buildings in the name of "progress". A small office was opened shortly afterward to collect material on historic buildings and the process of preservation. The collection has grown from a few documents and images to a comprehensive archives containing information on over 15,000 buildings and other heritage sites in the Capital Regional District.
JASNA - Jane Austen Society of North America
The Jane Austen Society of North America is dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing. JASNA is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers, with approximately 4,000 members and over 60 regional groups in the United States and Canada. Its members, who are of all ages and from diverse walks of life, share an enjoyment of Austen’s fiction and the company of like-minded readers.
Students, teachers, members, and visitors are invited to use the resources of this site to learn more about Jane Austen. The Publications section offers dozens of articles and book reviews on her writing, life, and times, all of which can be searched online. The Smoke & Fire Company

Begun in 1995, the collection was conceived as a multi-disciplinary resource for students, faculty, and others in the academic community. It has grown steadily since then, with contributions from a wide range of scholars, and now contains nearly 10,000 images ranging from New York to Central Asia, from African villages, to the Parc de la Villette, and conceptual sketches and models of Frank Gehry's Experience Music Project. These have all been scanned from original slides or drawn from documents in the public domain. They are freely available to anyone with access to the Web for use in the classroom, student study, or for individual research purposes. Clothing & Textiles Collection - University Alberta
The University of Alberta Clothing and Textiles Collection contains over 16,000 textiles, garments, and related artifacts from a wide variety of time periods and cultures. Nearly three centuries of fashions for women, men and children are represented, including an outstanding collection of women's nineteenth and twentieth century clothing and accessories. Domestic textiles such as quilts and table linens are found in the Collection along with contemporary textile art works. Ethnographic textiles and garments are collected from countries throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa, as well as North, Central and South America. The Collection has particularly significant holdings from Indonesia, West Africa, Guatemala and Peru. In addition, one can find such related artifacts as looms, spindles, needlework tools, clothing patterns, fashion periodicals and photographs.
VADS : Visual Arts Database
VADS is the online resource for visual arts. It has provided services to the academic community for 12 years and has built up a considerable portfolio of visual art collections comprising over 100,000 images that are freely available and copyright cleared for use in learning, teaching and research in the UK.

Costume and scene design are two essential components of performance art. Operas, operettas, stage plays, ballets, and films rely on design to create worlds that inspire the imagination. The Theatrical Scene and Costume Design collection, presented by Special Collections at the University of Calgary, features a selection of such designs dating back to the mid-nineteenth century. Our Future, Our Past: The Alberta Heritage Digitization Project is an ongoing endeavor in which materials, some previously difficult for the public to access, are placed on their websites to further research by scholars, students and all those interested in Alberta's rich and diverse history.
The Art Collection aims to increase public access to material held by Western Canadian museums and galleries. Welcome to the Burnaby Art Gallery searchable online database! The Burnaby Art Gallery collection is largely made up of works on paper (particularly prints on paper) by Canadian artists. Special consideration is given to the acquisition of multiples (e.g. original prints); or of works distinctly relevant to the citizens of Burnaby. Original hand-pulled prints comprise 80 % of the collection, 10% are drawings and collages, and 10% are paintings and objects.

A World-Class Collection of Contemporary, and Historical Costume. Though admire the professionalism of the site, I've never found a sure way of viewing their collection , if they have it accessible online at all, which would be nice and certainly more appealing than having to cross an ocean just to view it in person.
