These links are quite extensive and more focused towards the unique and effective sources of inspiration. To be quite frank, if you want to learn about costumes you can Google sites for costume patterns from Butterick and such and so forth OR you can use these in depth links for those hard to find sites that even Google can't seem to find as easily as you would like. Thus the links are divided into the following categories and are arranged best quality, most inspirational and helpful from top to bottom:
Apparel Search gives you the world of fashion online. It is one of the only web sites offering a comprehensive view of everything that is relevant to fashion and style. From our garment industry guide you will find jobs, factories, news resources, stores, wholesalers and much more ...
"Our mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers.
Our vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice:
Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade."
"The Apparel Human Resources Council (AHRC) is a national, industry-led, independent, non-profit organisation representing and serving the human resources development and adjustment needs of managers and employees in the apparel manufacturing industry. It is managed by a private sector Board of Directors equally representative of employers and employees. Through the AHRC, management, labour, provincial and national industry associations, government departments, educational institutions and other stakeholders work in partnership to address a wide range of issues including training and development, education, adjustment issues, communications, and enhancement of the industry’s image.
Our mandate is to create business opportunities for our industry by developing tools and services to help apparel manufacturers recruit, hire and retain a creative and an innovative workforce."

Costumer's Manifesto, compliments of Tara Maginnis Ph. D
The site is quite extensive, covering topics in the industry that are not covered here, but with more historical reference and research. Some links are not working and others do not offer the the best visuals if any, however Tara has thoroughly research every area of each topic and made sure to include links for a complete database for your viewing pleasure.
MYFDB.com - My Fashion Database
"My Fashion Database is the fashion industry’s go-to resource; we celebrate the credits that move fashion forward! We organize fashion credits of all the latest covers, campaigns, and editorials from publications and brands around the world."
"It's our mission to inspire you.
That means keeping you up to date with the latest fashion trends.
Often it also means stimulating your visual senses with the newest fashion pictures.
And along the way we'll bring you the latest clothes and accessories, hairstyles, beauty products and, who could forget, shoes. Sometimes they're from brands you're familiar with. Often they're not.
And we do it all because we believe fashion is important to every day life. It inspires. It helps project who you are. It helps project who you want to be.
We hope we succeed at inspiring you."
Indeed they do, if you are ever in need of images for inspiration, I find as well for use in mood and concept boards, this is the site to use, with genuine fashion photo-shoot quality images.
Fashion Mission - Nearly 10,000 Industry Links!!!
This has to one of the best and most extensive sites out there, nearly 10,000 fashion links, from Designers to Luxury Lifestyles, and every link has a helpful description to boot! Enjoy!
Fashion Trendsetter - The online fashion forecasting, trend reporting & news e-zine - FREE!!!
Fashion Trendsetter site is also quite extensive, perhaps not as much as WGSN, but fairly accurate to the trends. They do however offer some nice educational downloads.
WGSN - Online industry resource, research, trend analysis and news service for the fashion and style industries.
I highly recommend WGSN site for accurate trend forecasting and an extensive database for industry success, however the subscription fee is quite substantial. Having attended Fanshawe College, the school's tuition was $10,000 for the year, ouch, especially for a young designer just starting out.
Fashion-Era contains 760 content rich, illustrated pages of Fashion History, Costume History, Clothing, Fashion and Social History. Fairly good site, all in all.
Another small database with links to different costume sources, some historical reference while others are reenactors and vendors.
Renie - Fashion Illustrator
An excellent look at professional fashion illustrations and the use of 9-head croquis and Prismacolor Markers.
